Map Data and Privacy
iRobot® cares about your privacy and only uses your map data to improve your cleaning experience. For more information, see our Privacy Page.
Smart Maps are stored in the cloud, and not on the app. This means that they will remain even if you uninstall the app. However, maps are synced to robots on a one-to-one basis, which means that you will need to create a new map if you factory reset a current robot or purchase a new robot.
Disable Mapping Data
iRobot® puts you in control of your data and privacy. As an iRobot® customer, you have the option to enable or disable Mapping Features for your robot and your home.
iRobot® Map Report data is sent to the iRobot® Cloud for processing. You can opt-out from sending this data in the iRobot HOME App. Currently, Mapping Features options can be found under the "Accounts section" of the Home Screen.
Select: Accounts > Privacy > Mapping Features > your robot > Toggle Mapping Features
Disable Mapping Features:
Disabling Mapping Features will stop the robot from sending any spatial data to our cloud-based servers.
- As a result, no mapping-related features will be enabled in the mobile app, and any previous schedules and favorites will be disabled.
- Additionally, time estimates, directed room cleaning, targeted zone cleaning, and keep out zones will be disabled as well (since they utilize map data to work).
Enable Mapping Features:
- If you decide to turn Mapping Features back on, you will need to create a new map from scratch and customize it when it is ready.
