Why is my Roomba® Bumping into Obstacles Harder than Before?

« Volver
Article Details
  • Roomba® uses light touch bumper technology to identify walls and other obstacles.
  • This technology allows your robot to slow down and gently touch the obstacle with its bumper before changing direction.
  • Roomba® may be less effective at sensing objects and slowing down when:
    • Used on extremely dark or black surfaces
    • Objects are less than 2 in ( 50 mm ) wide
    • If Roomba® does not register obstructions or is slowing down when no obstacles are present, the light touch bumper sensors could be dirty
  • Using canned or compressed air is the most effective way to clean these sensors:
    1. Wipe the bumper with a clean lightly dampened pad of melamine foam, such as a Magic Eraser.
    2. Turn Roomba® off and place it on its back, so that the battery door is facing up
    3. Aim compressed air between the cliff sensor windows and the bumper, aiming the air towards the robot's body
