- Roomba® uses light touch bumper technology to identify walls and other obstacles.
- This technology allows your robot to slow down and gently touch the obstacle with its bumper before changing direction.
- Roomba® may be less effective at sensing objects and slowing down when:
- Used on extremely dark or black surfaces
- Objects are less than 2 in ( 50 mm ) wide
- If Roomba® does not register obstructions or is slowing down when no obstacles are present, the light touch bumper sensors could be dirty
- Using canned or compressed air is the most effective way to clean these sensors:
- Wipe the bumper with a clean lightly dampened pad of melamine foam, such as a Magic Eraser.
- Turn Roomba® off and place it on its back, so that the battery door is facing up
- Aim compressed air between the cliff sensor windows and the bumper, aiming the air towards the robot's body
